Outcomes for participants with Autism Spectrum Disorder

As at 31 March 2018, 29 per cent of NDIS participants with an approved plan had a primary disability of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), making it the largest primary disability category for the NDIS. Population and Scheme prevalence rates for ASD have been increasing over time. 
This presentation summarises available information on:

  • Prevalence rate estimates for ASD from the Survey of Disability, Ageing and Carers and for NDIS participants.
  • Trends over time and comparisons with other disabilities for NDIS participants with ASD.
  • Analysis of outcomes for participants with ASD, including baseline outcomes, longitudinal change in outcomes, and perceptions of whether the NDIS has helped
