Analysis of participants by gender

The Analysis of participants by gender report is part of a series of publicly shared reports released by the NDIA as part of the Agency’s commitment to sharing data. This is in addition to the comprehensive quarterly and other reports regularly released to assist stakeholders to better understand participant characteristics, participant outcomes and market trends.

As at 31 December 2019, 62 per cent of NDIS participants were male and 37 per cent were female. The purpose of this report is to examine this difference and better understand the underlying drivers of gender mix across Scheme participants compared with other populations.

The report summarises available information on:

  • Male to female ratios for different disabilities.
  • Male to female ratios by age.

These results are analysed to better understand the extent to which age and disability impact the overall gender ratio in the NDIS.
